January 26th 2020. The Liederkranz started our 2020 season with fourth Sunday Mass at St. Joseph’s. At the end of the Mass we recognized our Musical Director, Dr. Thomas E. Ewing, for 20 years of directorship of the Liederkranz. Gen Wayne Mary gave the address and Fr. Anthony Schuler blessed Tom and presented him with the San Antonio Liederkranz “Shawl of Excellence”. Tom is only the fifth Director in the 128 year history of the organization.
On Sunday, March 3rd, we bid farewell to our biggest fan, promoter, and lover of our music, Fr. Mario Marzocchi, SSS. Since 2009, he has made the Liederkranz feel more welcome in our ancestral home than any pastor since our founder.
He is retiring from the priesthood and going back to Cleveland.
This man, this magnificent priest, will be sorely missed not only by the Liederkranz but by the St. Joseph's Church Community as well.
